Fashion News: Day 2 of World MasterCard Fashion Week FW14

(03/18/2014) The line up expands on day two. Never hurts to have more fashion from the best and brightest in Canada. Today we look forward to the first full runway shows from HD HOMME, Malorie Urbanovitch and Matiere Noire winners of the Mercedes-Benz Start-up. The night will close out with one of our favorite Canadian designers Mélissa Nepton and the man who knows how to create a classic and breathtaking collection David Dixon.

HD HOMME (4:00 pm) – After meeting and seeing HD HOMME’s collection upclose last season. I’m excited to have another Menswear Collection on the Runway.

Thomas Bálint (5:00 pm) – Thomas Bálint continues to be one to watch with his European influences.

Laura Siegel (6:00 pm) – This season will infuse quilting techniques for F/W 2014.

Mercedes-Benz Start Up (7:00 pm) – The Third annual MBSU will bring us not one but two great designers from last years competition.

Mélissa Nepton (8:00 pm) – Excited to see the FW14 collection from Montreal based Mélissa Nepton, her collections each season are one of the highlights for us.

David Dixon (9:00 pm) – One of Toronto’s Premier Womenswear designer always has a strong vision with his collection, will we know right away or will we need to think about it?

Fashion News: Day 1 of World MasterCard Fashion Week FW14

(03/17/2014) This is always one of the best days on the Fashion Calender, The start of World MasterCard Fashion Week. Today starts of strong with a collection of Veteran Designers to the tents (VAWK, Beaufille, and Line Knitwear) and Up and Coming talents ( Mikhael Kale and Sid Neigum). This is how you want to start the week of with a great mix of designers expressing different views for Fall/Winter 2014.

Mikhael Kale (5:00 pm) – The Buzz about the opening show is HUGE!!! Can’t wait to see what the Mikhael Kale F/W14 Collection will be.

VAWK (6:00 pm) – Sunny Fong is back a the tents with the F/W 2014 VAWK Collection. Glad to have Vawk showing again this season.

Beaufille(7:00 pm) – Chloe and Parris Gordon are back in their second season under the Beaufille name.

Line Knitwear(8:00 pm) – One of Canada’s Premiere knitwear brands is ready to show what we can expect for F/W 2014 in knitwear.

Sid Neigum (9:00 pm) – The night’s final show is from Sid Neigum who will bring edgy cool to F/W2014

(10/21/2013) I’m excited to see such a strong lineup to kick of World MasterCard Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014. With the Gordon sisters, Pick Tartan and David Dixon on Day 1. Wow what is the rest of the week going to be like. Below is the line up for the first day of shows:

Beaufille (6:30 pm) – The designers behind Toronto Favorite Chloé Comme Parris, are bringing there new venture Beaufille to the tents this season.

Pink Tartan (7:30 pm) – Kimberly Newport-Mimran, is a leader in the Toronto Fashion Community and we are excited to see what this international brand has planned for Spring/Summer 2014

David Dixon (8:30 pm) – The Last time we saw David Dixon we got to see his creativity based on Alfred Hitchcock’s the Birds, what’s planned for this season?

Over the last few months the best and the brightest have been vying for the chance to be apart of the Mercedes-Benz Start-Up. It is a program similar to the Vogue Fashion Fund. Where designers who have been in business less then five years obtain the chance for mentorship and business development to help take there business to the next level.

Final Issue of SWAY Magazine

(08/09/2012) Just days after another amazing Caribana weekend sad news was delivered to me about one of my favorite Canadian Magazines. The thing I enjoyed about SWAY was the insight it gave me into the Afro-Caribbean Community of Canada. Also I liked that it gave exposure to writers, photographers, graphic designers, stylist and so many other creative people in Afro-Caribbean Community.

It will always mean a lot that SWAY was one of the first publications to feature my fashion week photography. I hope this change does not affect the great staff that worked so hard on SWAY. Times are so hard for print publications with the internet, blogs, Facebook, Twitter and tablets. With the changes and speed of information today there are interesting times ahead for all creative industries.

FDCC and World MasterCard: Canadian Catwalk FW 2012

01/26/2012 the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) announced that World MasterCard will sponsor Toronto Fashion Week. The event will still be held at David Pecaut Square, but now with the sponsorship of a world class company. MasterCard offers a number of unique insentives for its card members, as seen during last season’s fashion week, and I expect more from the company this season.
